Expressing gratitude
No Comment |Posted by: aferreira on March 30, 2011
Many times, we have our everyday life watching how people do so many kind things for us. Often enough, we ended up forgetting to express gratitude for those acts.
Besides saying “thank you”, you can express gratitude in many ways. The latest Buzz blog edition has some hints on that:

Authority figures on a child`s life
No Comment |Posted by: aferreira on March 10, 2011
In order to thrive and understand limits, children need to know well who are the authority figures in their lives. When welcoming an au pair into your home, you are including her/him on that circle. To learn some good advice on that front, please read the Buzz.

Guess who is turning 50?

It is The Cat In The Hat!!! And we are the ones who have tons to celebrate.
We all know how important it is to read to our children everyday. The challenge is to keep them interested. And what a challenge! In 1954, Times Magazine brought up a problem that was bothering Americans, children who did not want to read.
Dr. Seuss heard them all and put together a book with 236 words that no 6 years-old children could put down. The Cat In The Hat is still a big hit 50 years later and a great cultural American piece of literature for children. It is also a fun way to approach the English language, for au pairs and for children.
If you want to learn more about its interesting story, go to NPR.org:

Raising bilingual children

Raising a bilingual child is no easy task, but very possible. Hosting an au pair is a great opportunity to bring another culture and another language to you children.
But the good news don`t stop here. The article below mentions another important aspect of having another language for your children.
